Eight Rights beat MBNA 2 - 0 in a close game settled by two late goals. The ISA were held to a 1 -1 draw by the Red Lion.

We lost again - Just cannot understand how a team was 2nd behind Eight Rights with games in hand at Xmas (I know we wouldnt have won it) butto lose virtually every game this year! I love football especially section C next Year!!!!....
Good Luck to the top 4 for a battle for the league title.

went down to watch the eight rights v mbna and have to say that mbna played the better football but in the end lacked in the final third. the game was even until the ref (from eight rights - hummmm) gave a penalty, even thou the tackle was clearly made from outside the box. the penalty was scuffed past the left hand post and both sides went in 0 - 0 at the break. with sun, rain and even snow in the second half the game was again marred by a dodgy penalty given by the ref (from eight rights - hummmm) which was put in. as the game went on anouther goal went in with mbna claiming (hummmm) for offside but no whistle was blown. the game turned nasty in the end with the home side throwing in two footed tackles and punches which resulted in 1 red card for the rights. good game to watch and still the league is in our hands to win or lose (st werbzzz).

Can't condone the behaviour of one or two players towards the end and they were dealt with in the dressing room. You can't throw punches plain and simple and the management team/committee won't stand for it. I like our lads to play hard but fair.
The first penalty was a definite foul and it looked right on the edge of the box to me - I've seen penalties given and I've seen free kicks given for those. Can't comment on the second one as I didn't really have a very good view (sounds a bit Arsene Wenger like that!) and my initial view was that Pap was on side for the second goal.
Interesting that the lad who was marking him never appealed for off side which is usually a tell tale sign. Really enjoyed last nights game and MBNA are a decent side - you're right about the final third, with a bit more up front they'd a very decent outfit.

I played for MBNA in the game and it is fair to say that if a referee had turned up, the result probably would have been a lot different and also the number of players that finished the game would have been considerably lower. All credit to the lad that reffed the game as it is a thankless job, but he gave you two penalties (the first outside the box; the ref gave a free kick initially and by the time that your team had protested he has crawled into the area (I watched him!) so the ref changed his mind), the second penalty your lad fell over without anyone touching him which he admitted!, and then no-one bothered to appeal for the final offside goal or chase him because it was laughable that the ref had not blown his whistle because he was so far offside! To be fair, 8 rights have got some decent players and are a good side and we did not play as well as we can, and we will take defeat as well as anyone (as well as accept crap referee decisions), but people punching other players, and our goalkeeper having rocks and stones thrown at him during the game is out of order).
All in all though, your team are the best we have played in the league so far so good luck in Section B next season.
Cheers.
