Eight Rights battled to a 3 - 2 victory at Hoole Park against the Royal Oak last night. The game had everything and is, for me, the best game of Sunday football I've played in or watched this season. It had everything - contentious goals, goalkeeping howlers (yours truly! ), world class saves (yours truly! , yellow cards, red cards, a missed penalty in the last minute and a cracking free kick from 25 yards. The hardest game we have had all season - including the two defeats - by a long way. Hopefully Oak will be able to do us a favour on Sunday - Werburghs kept the ball rolling with a 2 - 0 win against Tarporley however to keep things tighter than a nuns chuff at the top.

Yeah i caught tha penalty miss in the dying seconds and from what ive heard it was an amazing game ... do you know who missed the penalty? That miss could be the defining moment in the league and who will win it ... we played tarporley, there an really underrated team ya know, if there striker could shoot they'd be deadly... we didnt really play well at all but you know what they say about championship winning teams - dont play well and still win!!!!

Not sure of the lads name but he was quite a young lad in midfield - to be fair he had played really well as well. We ended up with 10 men as Dave Carman got sent off for throwing a punch so it was a good result on the whole.
We said something similar about Tarporley when we played them. They pretty decent at the back and in the middle but have nothing up front.

Yeh i heard about ur lad...squaring up to a beef-head lol. I suppose that red card means a suspension then??? im not sure how long, it dont fink itll be that bad if it was two yellows.
Did nathan maplecroft play against ya?? was expecting him to take peno, but in all fairness there was about a dozen distractions for the young lad who took it (kid and puppy getting stuck in the net etc etc lol) U gotta game Thurs???

Neither of the Mapletofts played. Apparantley they are away with the army during the week but they can play on Sunday according to the Oak's manager last night.
We've got the Bache away on Thursday, not sure what they are like thesedays although we beat them 7 - 0 earlier in the season.
I couldn't beleive it when Carman started trying to fight Tommy McGaw - the fella is at least 6' 4" and 17 stone! Carman's a lover not a fighter. As it's two yellows it shouldn't be that bad. I don't even think it'll come through until the end of the season now. I got sent off in March last year and my ban carried over to August.

I dont know wen we get our extra 2 games in hand over you then, if you've gotta game thurs. Weve got a cuple of testing fixtures cumin up aswell - ISA thurs and Royal Oak Sunday. Cud make or break out season. I think us vs u for the title wud be a quality game, if all goes well then i hope we do meet for the title ... wot a game itd be

Just read afew of your comments chaps regarding tarporley, its been a real hard slog for us this season, losing every week isnt a pleasant feeling! we are a very young team and fairly inexperienced at "hardened" sunday league level. i really dont think we deserve to be where we are in the league, appreciate that sounds like sour grapes but ive lost count of the amount of games we have lost by odd goal. Our top scorer this season tom oates has 20 goals( the skinny one) in truth he should of had double that with the chances he has missed! we have been ahead in a so many games this season ive lost count! still we will keep plugging away, not sure whether i will carry on the team next season, i dont have the luxury of a reliable squad unfortunately cheers all for the kind words though
ps for what its worth i think st werburghs will win the league, due to there defensive record and there ability to keep a clean sheet ! kind regards matt (wanderers gaffer)

Welcome to the board Matt, I hope you keep it going as we enjoyed both of our games against Wanderers this season - especially the wet one up at Barrow!
I agree with your comments mate - no way you deserve to be where you are in the league. This is the strongest Section C I've seen in 6 years of playing Sunday league football by a long way. Ourselves, Werburghs, ISA, MBNA, Bromfield and a full strength Royal Oak would all hold their own in Section B. The Black Dog have also picked up a lot recently so they could be another to add to the list.
Next season, with a few additions, I reckon you'll find things a fair bit easier with a years experience. 20 goals is a decent return to be honest (top scorer in the league only had 27 - admittedly in about 8 games!) so with a few more goals from elsewhere you may have picked up several more wins.
Good luck mate.

Here here, tarporley are a solid team. Wish you all the best for the rest of the season and hope you dont fold next year ... from my experience (tuesday nite) you are a rite nice bunch of lads and have a very supportive manager, only hoping things get better - i fink they will.

Tarporley looked a good strong team to me, certainly better than the black dog, mbna or the egerton who are all higher in the table.
The lad up front has scored 20 goals? He looked like shooting was a weak point in his games vs us, he has pace and good movement though and makes chances for himself.
