Following a summer of transition and numerous changes at the old Egerton Arms outfit now rebranded as Peacock Rovers with manager Ray Cotterell deciding to call it a day we have decided to have a change management style and have a joint venture with Chris (Harold) Wraige at the helm as overall manager being assisted by Trevor Woodhouse and with Lee (Timber) Woodcock also helping out with his tactical nous!
As far as ray goes all the team would like to say a massive thank you for all the sundays you have given up and for how much you have done for the team and we hope to see you on the sidelines giving us your words of encouragement throughout the season as it wont be the same without you winding up the opposition for us!!
Some of the players have decided to call it a day as well with some major losses including Kev Baxter in defence and Steve Oakley in midfield and for a few weeks it was looking like these loses may just be too big to cover however after make some major signings in the summer we may be acle to cover these to elder statesmen of the team. Steves younger brother John has also decided to play for a team on the Wirral and he will be a big loss at Right Back
Some of the new signings this season are Dariush Tavan a speedy utility player who looks rock solid at full back and is good going forward he may just be able to step into John Oakley big boots and fill the void he has left.
Midfield has now become a hot spot of talent with 3 new signings fighting for the central midfield role with our tactical genius! Timber!!! David Broadhurst (Used to play for St Werburghs), Andrew Topp and Paul Lloyd (Ex Vicars Cross) all are hard tackling decent footballers who should only benefit our side and should be able to cover the loss of Steve Oakley in midfield and allow Cotty to drop back to Centre defence to help out old man Rochdale who at 30 is the eldest regular player in the squad this season.
The management team are happy to have resigned Aaron Phillips and Andy Hollinger for the forthcoming season and also resigning the promising if not frustrating Felix Jones although he is f**king off to Nottingham Uni but should still be able to make a few appearances throughout the season and has managed to get his elder brother Fin signed up as cover!
We are still on the look out for our 20 goal a season hitman and the board and management have a few irons in some fires but we will have to wait and see however with a total of 22 players signed and 3 more definates we have filled our quota of 25 quite quickly and compition for places should be fierce this season.
